Simply titled and completely refreshing, Life is the debut solo album of Apay Ji, the former lead vocalist of popular Taiwan indie band Apay. Thanks to their crowd-pleasing youth rock sound, Apay attracted a fairly big following in Taiwan’s indie circuit. In 2006 the band released their full-length album “Lead Vocalist Adult”, as well as the joint single “My Future is Not a Dream” with Sodagreen. In 2007, however, Apay had to bid farewell to her namesake band, forcing her to reassess the role of music in her life. After a difficult yet enlightening period, Apay returns to music as a solo singer-songwriter in 2008 with her first album Life. The emphasis is still on bright and breezy rock, but compared to her band days, Apay’s compositions have matured and her range has broadened to include ballads and fusion tracks. Life contains ten new songs from Apay, including “Because of Me”, “With You”, and the title track, all giving a sunshine look into the dreams and thoughts of the talented singer.
